My book dimensions are 8.5 X11, landscape format. Can anyone share what settings and dimensions have worked for them? I am using Adobe InDesign if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance for your help.
The making of a photography book about Route 15 between Leesburg, VA and Gettysburg, PA. Discussion covers photography aesthetics, project management, technique, digital and film issues, small vs. large format issues, book layout and design, and book publishing.
Hi George,
ReplyDeleteexport full-size jpg from lightroom and use those in your books, but ask indesign to reduce the file size for you. For that to work, select "smallest file size" (iirc) in the pdf export presets, and check the image settings. I ask mine to downsample images to 150dpi, and with some additional tweaking, it got my 12x12 76 images book down to less than 10MB.
Hi Natt,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice. I tried downsampling my jpegs out of Lightroom to 100dpi and the seemed OK but not as great as I had hoped. I will give your suggestion a go tonight..
Best Regards,
George
I also had good success setting the PDF export to downsample images to 150dpi
