Lulu looks like a good service. Unfortunately it's book formats are pretty simplistic/album looking and the regular book templates are not very photo-friendly. Issuu looks like a very classy site but then I would be on my own for publishing/layout software. I am tackling enough in one month to attempt top-quality work without having to learn a full-featured layout program. If anyone has any ideas, I am all ears........................

More Book Publishing Logistics
OK...I made a small book in Blurb and will finish this weekend to send out for a physical sample. I am curious to see how good the quality will be. The problem is that if I want to make a book with Blurb for print on demand, I can't make a PDF of the same book to post on sofobomo. Which means I would have to make a second PDF file gallery to upload on sofobomo. Not very good but a worst-case outcome. Blurb's website states that their "business model" does not accommodate PDF/POD output. Quite possibly, my "business model" will not accommodate using them.

Hmmm, this is something I need to figure out too. I was planning on making a PDF, which I would then upload to a printing service. Not sure which one...
ReplyDeleteYour best bet is to use your own editing software & use that to create a pdf. You can then also export the pages as jpegs and insert into Blurb as full-bleed images. This gives more creative control on layout than Blurb Booksmart allows and an easy route to both sorts of output.
